Can we talk about exercise?

I have yet to find an exercise that I enjoy. Maybe I just have my hopes too high in hoping that it is something that is supposed to be enjoyable. I like going on walks with my family, but I don't really think I am burning too many calories on a leisurely walk with 5 kids who get worn out before we get far enough for me to even almost work up a sweat. I enjoyed yoga, but didn't really have the time to make it to the classes. Any suggestions? What do YOU do to exercise and how do you stay motivated with it?

I will say today was my last day of LPN school and I have a few weeks off until I start RN school on August 1st. I am hoping that having these few weeks off with nothing extra to do will help me to really focus on eating right and exercising. I went to the store tonight and stocked up on yummy fruits and veggies so that there is something here for me to snack on. I CAN do this!

  1. Working out definitely energizes me and that motivates me because I need all the energy I can get :-)

  2. Thank you so much for joining us for Friendly Friday, Heidi!

I commend you on starting this blog and getting on the path to better health... it's a hard journey to be on. I too set out to lost 30 pounds (not by 30 though, too late for that) starting last Christmas and, thanks to being fortunate to review Nutrisystem, I'm down 23 of them. There are definitely days that I don't think I'm going to make it, but no matter what I've eaten that I shouldn't have, tomorrow is another day, right?

Good luck, I wish you success!

  3. So glad you joined in Friendly Friday! I love to go for a walk all by myself. That's my favorite exercise and it gives me time to think. :)

  4. I'm happy to follow yor blog. You can totally do this! I'm a mom of 7 and I completely understand being to tired. I've found the best for me is getting my tail outta bed before Daddy leaves so I can walk by myself. If I don't get up,I try t do one of the walk at home type videos with my littles. Can't wait to hear about your progress!

  6. Of course the key is to find something you enjoy. In my search to find what will work with my family's busy schedule I have found that I needed to work out at home. As an avid gym rat that was new to me. Then I tried P90X and have been working out, running or cross training consistently. Maybe P90X isn't for you but I know there is a wide variety of at home DVD workout programs that you might like.

Advice from a new visitor and now follower :)

Stop by and say hi sometime. I blog about my passion for fitness and health and just posted about my next 31-day clean eating challenge :)

  7. After I had Addie, I took a Zumba class. It was an absolute blast - never felt like "working out" to me. I think a lot depends on your personality too. I feel uncomfortable going to a gym or walking/running by myself. I think I probably need someone to help keep me motivated (of course there's no one near me!).
